Non Surgical Gum Treatment

Periodontal disease is the major cause of tooth loss for adults over thirty five. The major cause of this problem is the retention of plaque and calculus under the gums. Long term accumulation of tartar can caused a low grade infection which leads to the bone and ultimately the tooth being lost. Deep cleaning and placement of antibiotic therapy (arestin) under the gum is an effective first step in treating this problem.

The advantages of having gum treatments:

Allows the gums to firmly reattach to the teeth

 Stops gums from bleeding

 Reduces swelling of the gums

Eases gum tenderness and reduces tooth sensitivity due to teeth receding from the gums and exposing

    the root

Prevents tooth and bone loss attributable to gum disease
